I Wanna Be… A Sports Scientist!

For Students Entering Kindergarten + 1st Grade, Fall 2018

If you’re looking for a home run for your kid, you’ve found it! In this camp kids step up to the plate and learn all about the science of sports. Ever wonder how professional athletes achieve such incredible physical feats? Our campers strive to answer this very question. Starting with the various systems of the body from muscular to respiratory and combining that with nature’s physical forces such as gravity and friction, campers discover the scientific explanations behind athleticism. Whether our mini-sports scientists are studying the bones of the body by making a Q-Tip Skeleton or they are determining the optimal ball trajectory to score a field goal in football, camp participants walk away with a better appreciation for the science of sports.

Additional Topics Include: Lung capacity, Forces, Energy transfer, Anatomy, Angles

Optional Program Extension Until 3:30 PM: MATH MANIA!
Topic of the Week: Carnival Games (see Sample Camp Day below for more details)
