A: Late pick-up (until 5:00 pm) is available for full-day campers at an additional cost. For those campers who elect the late pick-up option, it’s all fun and games! From challenging board and card games to engaging math puzzles and coding explorations, campers enjoy fun activities that keep the excitement of the day rolling along! The program starts shortly after camp ends at 3:30 pm and continues until 5:00 pm. Kids may be picked-up at any time after 3:30 pm. The fee for late pick-up is $100 for the week. The late pick-up option is not available for mini-camps
Q: What is the camper-to-staff ratio?
A: The camper-to-staff ratio at Launch camps is 4:1, ensuring that each child receives unparalleled attention throughout the camp day.
Q: My child has a friend attending camp the same week. Will they be in the same group?
A: Generally, the Launch team considers all available information and makes decisions about camper groups based on variables such as age, grade, and experience. If you have a special request regarding the pairing of campers, you must email Launch at info@launchmath.com as soon as possible after registration. The Launch team will do its best to accommodate (please note that submitting a request does not guarantee a child’s placement). Please note that both families must request the pairing via email.
Q: Can my child participate in the same camp twice?
A: Launch offers four different camp themes for each grade group that rotate throughout the summer. Children may participate in all four of the camps in any order, however enrolling in the same camp theme more than once is not recommended (projects are repeated).
Q: Which camp group is most appropriate for my child, Juniors, Kids, or Tweens?
A: Launch camps are arranged by grade level groupings. The grade designations for camps are RISING grade levels (for example, the Juniors group is composed of RISING K and RISING 1st graders). In other words, your child’s placement is determined by the grade which they will enter in the fall of 2024. In some cases, private school and public school calendars may differ. If you are unsure which group your child should join, please contact Launch (info@launchmath.com) for help determining the proper placement before registering.
Q: What is the minimum age required for my child to attend a Juniors (K+1st) camp?
A: Your child may attend one of Launch’s Juniors (K+1st) camps if they turned 4 years old by 12/31/23 (in other words, they must turn at least 5 years old at some point in 2024). If you have questions or concerns, please contact Launch (info@launchmath.com) for help determining your child’s eligibility before registering. Launch reserves the right to remove a child from camp if they do not meet the age requirement (with no refund provided).
Q: What happens in a typical day at Launch’s full-day camps?
K+1st Grade Camps
A: During Launch’s full-day Juniors camps, each week is filled with a diverse array of activities, lessons, and challenges. Every day, campers delve into thought-provoking explorations centered around the week’s theme and construct projects that reinforce the concepts they acquire. The program includes the exploration of math puzzles and games (Math Mania!), along with collaborative group STEM challenges. Camp days unfold within a comfortable indoor setting, providing campers with the option to briefly enjoy the outdoors in the sun during lunch or snack breaks. For a comprehensive overview of full-day camp activities, please consult the Sample Daily Schedule available on the Summer Camps 2024 page of the Launch website.

2nd-4th & 5th-7th Grade Camps
A: At Launch’s full-day Kids and Tweens camps, each week is packed with a broad range of projects, lessons, and challenges. Approximately half of every day is spent outdoors in Central Park, where campers participate in stimulating STEM-related activities and enjoy classic, low-energy outdoor camp games. Transitioning to the indoor portion of the camp day, the focus shifts to the STEM theme of the week. Campers are presented with thought-provoking lessons and construct hands-on projects that reinforce the concepts they learn. This blend of outdoor excitement and indoor STEM exploration creates a dynamic and engaging experience for our campers. For a comprehensive overview of full-day camp activities, please consult the Sample Daily Schedule available on the Summer Camps 2024 page of the Launch website.

Q: What is Math Mania! and when is it offered?
A: Launch’s Math Mania! program is offered for Juniors (K+1st grade) as a stand-alone mini-camp, and as segments within Launch’s full-day Juniors camps. The mini-camp is a condensed, two-hour morning math program with four weekly, rotating themes. The full-day camp offers Math Mania! segments within two time slots during the longer camp day.

Math Mania! brings mathematics to life with engaging games, math-themed crafts, and interactive lessons. Campers explore topics such as money, time, data collection, and probability through exciting themes like Carnival Games and Space Voyages, ensuring a blast of fun in every learning moment! Math Mania! is more than a lecture; it’s a math adventure!

Q: What happens during the STEM Projects segment?
A: Every day at Launch camp is packed with engaging STEM activities, and the highlight is the dedicated STEM Project time – the standout moment of our STEM adventure! Each camp week introduces a unique theme, inviting kids to explore inspiring lessons that prompt their curiosity with thought-provoking questions. Then, campers have the opportunity to put their newfound knowledge into action by building their own projects. Whether it’s a handcrafted construct or a digital masterpiece in coding, Launch campers can proudly present their creations to family and friends upon their homecoming. It’s a wonderful way to discuss what they learned and to share their accomplishments!
Q: What happens during STEM Discoveries?
A: The STEM Discoveries segment provides an exciting mix of topics, engaging campers in challenge-based learning through independent or group problem-solving activities. Kids explore a variety of STEM subjects and related activities, enhancing their creativity and critical thinking skills. Projects encompass physical builds with everyday materials and mental puzzles requiring collaborative, problem-solving methods. From crafting a mini waterslide to guide an object across a table, to constructing the longest paper chain with just one sheet, STEM Discoveries offers open-ended challenges that leave kids thrilled with excitement and overflowing with creativity!
Q: What happens during Active Adventures?
A: The Active Adventures component of camp is an amazing blend of tech and outdoor excitement! Campers use geocaching tech for a thrilling scavenger hunt, pursuing clues to solve an epic “escape room” in the park. Campers also transform into movie stars, mastering the art of directing and editing “How To” videos, equipped with knowledge about filming techniques and editing processes. When not on tech adventures, classic camp games outside provide laughs and a break. It’s the perfect mix of cool tech and outdoor fun, making every camper love learning and exploring in nature! This holistic approach ensures a well-rounded experience, fostering a love for learning and exploration in the great outdoors. Active Adventures takes place outdoors and is offered to Kids (2nd-4th grade) and Tweens (5th-7th grade) camp groups only.
Q: What should my child bring to camp?
A: Full-day campers are required to bring lunch, a water bottle, snack, sneakers, and have sunscreen pre-applied! Mini-camp participants are required to bring a water bottle, and sneakers are recommended.
Q: My child is attending a full-day camp. What should I consider when packing them a lunch?
A: Launch strongly recommends sending your child’s lunch in an insulated lunchbox with ice packs, when appropriate. Please note that lunches cannot be warmed or reheated. All campers should be sent to camp with a water bottle in addition to any drinks included for lunch. Launch requires that parents provide nut-free snacks and lunches.
Q: Is time allotted for a snack break?
Full-Day Camps for Juniors, Kids, and Tweens (Grades K-7th)
A: Campers have the opportunity to break for snack periodically throughout the day. Neither snacks nor lunches are provided by Launch, and it is recommended that parents pack food in an insulated lunchbox. Launch camps are nut-free and it is required that parents provide nut-free snacks and lunches.

Mini-Camps for Juniors (Grades K+1st only)
A: Launch’s Math Mania! Mini-Camps are 2 hours in duration and therefore a snack break is not included in the schedule. However, all campers should be sent to camp with a water bottle. If your child requires food during the 9:30 am to 11:30 am time period, let us know and proper accommodations will be made (parents must provide the nut-free snack).

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: Launch offers flexibility when your child’s availability to join us hits a snag:

The Flexibility To Switch
Your child can no longer make it to camp on the week that you purchased? Launch allows campers the opportunity to switch camp weeks up to two weeks prior to the start of a session (subject to availability).

The Flexibility To Transfer
Your child can no longer make it to camp at all this summer? Launch allows a transfer of camp fees to a sibling or family member or friend.

If All Else Fails… Canceling Is An Option
A $150 per camp non-refundable deposit is required to register for full-day camps, $50 for mini-camps. Canceling up to two weeks prior to the start of a camp session is allowed (but deposits are non-refundable). No refunds are provided for cancelations within two weeks of the start of a camp session. If a camper is unable to start or finish a camp week due to medical-related issues, Launch will provide a credit good for 1 year less the deposit and the cost of any days attended (a minimum of 1 prorated camp day is charged, whether or not the camper attended for 1 day). A doctor’s note is required for any medical-related cancelations.

All requests to switch/transfer/cancel camps must be sent via email to cancel@launchmath.com. Please include your name, your child’s name, the camps affected and your reason for the change.

Q: Do you offer early bird, sibling, or any other discounts?
A: Yes! Launch offers substantial savings including up to $200 per camp with Early Bird / Multiple Camp discounts (Multiple Camp provides discounts for siblings and all other multi-camp purchases). Please refer to our pricing and discount charts on the Summer Camps 2024 page on the website.
Q: Do you offer scholarships?
A: Launch offers partial need-based scholarships to offset the cost of camp. Scholarships are limited and will not cover the full cost of camp. The scholarship application is available (as of April 15th) by following the link below the pricing section on the Summer Camps 2024 page on the Launch website.
Q: Do you offer busing?
A: Unfortunately, Launch does not offer transportation services to/from camp at this time.
Q: How do I get in touch with my child or a Launch instructor in the case of an emergency?
A: In the event of an emergency only, campers can be reached at the appropriate phone number for each camp location. Location phone numbers are provided in the welcome email that is distributed each week prior to camp. If you are unable to reach a Launch representative at any particular location, please call the Launch flagship center on 81st Street at 212-600-1010 for additional support.
